SANTA ANA, Calif.—The owner of music teaching schools in Cypress and Irvine pleaded guilty April 14 and was immediately sentenced to time served in jail awaiting trial for molesting two female students, ages 5 and 6.
Randal “Randy” Letcher Scott, 62, of Irvine, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of child molesting, according to court records. As part of the negotiated plea with prosecutors two felony counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child younger than 14 were dismissed.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Gary S. Paer sentenced Scott to three years and eight months in prison, but Scott has credit for 2,496 days in custody, which covers the punishment. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Scott admitted that sometime between Oct. 1, 2015, and Dec. 25, 2015, he entered the bathroom of one victim, when she was 6, “and while naked, got into the bathtub [with the victim]” and forced her to touch him, according to his plea.
For the second victim, who was 5, he admitted entering the restroom of Music Town sometime between Nov. 1, 2016, and Dec. 17, 2016, with the girl and exposing himself and forcing her to touch him with a feather duster, according to the plea.
Scott owned the Music Town business.
The children told their parents, who went to authorities, prosecutors said, adding that the 5-year-old came forward first.
The two children have no other connection, prosecutors said.
