All public and private schools in Glen Rock, New Jersey, were placed on lockdown on Tuesday, according to media reports. Glen Rock School District includes Glen Rock High School, Glen Rock Middle School, Central School, Richard E. Byrd School, Clara E. Coleman School, Alexander Hamilton School, and Glen Rock Community School.

The school lockdown was later lifted after a threatening phone call came in at 1 p.m., Fox NY reported.

ABC-7 reported that the lockdown was carried out as a precaution.. Glen Rock Mayor Van Keuren confirmed to the station it was in effect.

The school website for Hamilton Elementary said that children have been evacuated and are safe.

“There has been an emergency at Hamilton Elementary school this afternoon and the building has been evacuated to Academy of Our Lady on Rodney Street. All children are safe,” the school told the New Jersey Star-Ledger.

Earlier on Tuesday, Lodi High School in New Jersey was placed on lockdown as a precaution due to a reported unspecified threat. The lockdown was later lifted.

On Twitter, people were perplexed as to why both Lodi High School and Glen Rock schools were locked down.

“So now Glen Rock schools are in lockdown....wtf is happening,” wrote one user.
