A former communications director for Planned Parenthood killed himself on April 11 after police raided his apartment as part of a child pornography investigation against him.
Jacobson told the New Haven Register there were two open investigations against Yergeau, and they will not release further information regarding the matter until it is confirmed that Yergeau had no accomplices.
The Epoch Times has contacted the New Haven Police Department for more information.
Yergeau was a supporter of Planned Parenthood and related causes. He was an active participant in pride and queer activism based on his Instagram posts.
“Excited to announce that today I start a new job on the marketing/communications team at Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. Excited to be working on issues I’m passionate about: healthcare access, reproductive and sexual health, diversity and inclusion, civic engagement, and voting rights,” said Yergeau in a Dec. 17, 2018, Instagram post.
The post included a photo of the slogan, “I Stand With Planned Parenthood.”
In a more recent June 2022 post, he shared a photo of himself wearing a T-shirt that said “Bans Off Our Bodies.”
Bungled Raid
A few days prior to the suicide, local police had raided Yergeau’s apartment building but botched the bust by accidentally raiding the apartment of an innocent neighbor.“They obviously hit the wrong door,” Jacobson told the New Haven Register. “We feel for the woman and we’re going to do everything we can to make it right.”
Stacey Wezenter, the neighbor, told the New Haven Register she heard police knock down her door at about 6 a.m. and that police put her in handcuffs.
“I started running down the hallway, it was just like a movie. They had guns and flashlights on me,” Wezenter said, according to the outlet. “They put me against the wall and handcuffed me. I was crying and saying, ‘What’s happening?’”
When the police realized they made a mistake, they proceeded to Yergeau’s apartment where they confiscated his computer and other electronics.
