Former Knesset Member Says: ‘Patience, Compassion, Truth, and Love Are What Wins’

TEL AVIV, Israel—Ronit Tirosh attended Shen Yun Performing Arts on April 8.

Tirosh headed Israel’s Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports also, until 2012, was a member of the Knesset, Israel’s governing body. Tirosh is now a full-time lecturer at Reichman University and a grandmother.

Tirosh said she enjoys learning about other cultures. “I once went to an opera in China, and I have to be honest, I didn’t really like it. But here, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not an opera. [The performers’] ability to express complete stories through dance without words is something rare in my eyes. The music is always pleasant,” she said.

Based in New York, Shen Yun was founded in 2006 by leading Chinese artists and quickly became the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Shen Yun’s mission is to revive traditional Chinese culture.
She was impressed with the technology used in the backdrop. “I have never seen anything like it before,” she said. “Maybe it’s because it’s so characteristic of the Chinese because they are simply champions of technology.”
Tirosh commended Shen Yun’s presentation of higher values. “But above all, the values they expressed throughout the performance of patience, compassion, truth, and love are what wins. I truly believe in this—I am so happy that they are bringing it to the world.”
“They themselves are a very brave group, I think, because they also have a lot of criticism towards what is happening in China: organ transplantation, organ theft, the covid pandemic that we are all afraid of, and it started in China. A lot of courage is needed to do this through art,“ Tirosh said. ”And they managed to convey many messages, again without words, through amazing dance and music.”
“I had a really wonderful experience and enjoyed it very much,” Tirosh said, “and I am very happy that I came ... this is something completely different.

“I highly recommend it with all my heart to anyone who can still buy tickets. I think everything is sold out, but [people should go] if more performances are possible.
