Researchers from Sweden’s Lund University are studying a semi-permanent Mesolithic settlement off the nation’s southern coast.

Just over a decade ago, a team of explorers were working on an exploration and survey mission off the western coast of Cuba when their sonar equipment picked up a perplexing series of stone structures lying some 650 meters below the surface.

Here’s a look at prehistoric structures thought to defy the current understanding of history—the Bosnian Pyramid, Gobekli Tepe, Yonaguni Monument, the structure discovered in the Gulf of Khambhat, and Bimini Road.
