A new report says Australia, Canada, and the UK are responsible for 60 percent of emissions across Commonwealth nations.

The leaders of both countries heralded what Tuvalu’s PM described as a ‘groundbreaking arrangement’ which aims to help the island fight climate change.

Meanwhile, the former prime minister of the small Pacific nation has criticised the New Zealand government for embracing gas drilling.

Penny Wong said the door is open for ‘climate asylum seekers’ from other Pacific Nations following Australia’s agreement with Tuvalu.

Australia’s climate visa will be granted to 280 Tuvaluans each year, equivalent to 2.5 percent of Tuvalu’s population of 11,200.
