For all the big talk about fighting climate change, the basic truth remains: future production of oil and gas is central to the Norwegian economy, while the EU will still want a secure supply of these fossil fuels—especially gas.

The USGS has estimated that the Arctic regions contain around 130b barrels of oil and 1660t cubic feet of gas—22% of the world’s undiscovered hydrocarbon resources.
