Heading into Veterans Day, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has vetoed legislation that would have authorized state and municipal pension credits for peacetime military service.

NEW YORK—Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino released a new TV ad on Monday, targeting Gov. Andrew Cuomo by linking the fallout from the dissolution of the anti-corruption Moreland Commission with images of nuclear war.

The New York Republican County Committee announced a host of Republican candidates for city and state level office on the steps of City Hall on Wednesday, charging the virtual one-party rule of New York City politics with breeding a culture of corruption.

NEW YORK—Incumbent State Sen. Jeffrey Klein began his victory speech minutes before 11 p.m. Tuesday night, saying his challenger G. Oliver Koppell had conceded. Polls showed that Klein led with 62 percent of the vote.

NEW YORK—Kathy Hochul will make her voice heard, at least behind closed doors. Cuomo’s running mate in the Democratic primary said that she would be an independent lieutenant governor, and make sure Cuomo knows where she stands.
