McLaren tested new aerodynamic parts and a new driver at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit Tuesday, and the new driver, Denmark’s Kevin Magnussen, turned in the fastest lap of the day, his first time in a Formula One car.
After announcing that McLaren was the car to beat by sweeping qualifying, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton proved it by finishing first and third in the 2012 Formula One Australian Grand Prix.
Former World Driving Champions Kimi Räikkönen turned in the fastest time of the final four-day Formula One pre-season test at Barcelona’s Catalunya circuit Sunday, lapping in 1:22.030.
