BEIJING—A warm and a sunny Sunday Oct 5, 2014 in Beijing, as the tennis fans entered the ground of the National Tennis Centre and the Diamond Court, for a day of men’s and women’s finals at the China Open.
BEIJING— Novak Djokovic proved once again why he is the world’s No. 1 player. With a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Andy Murray, the Serbian player’s unbeaten record at China Open continues, as he enters his fifth final in Beijing. There was some incredible ball striking by both players but Murray wasn’t able to hit the ‘perfect’ shot it took to have a chance to stay in the match.
BEIJING— Where did this Martin Klizan come from? The answer is, from the Qualifiers. This is a player who was just a few days earlier down a set and 1-5 to a player ranked 800 in the world, and here he is playing one of the best games I have seen this year, creating a sensation taking world No.2 Rafael Nadal out of this 2014 China Open.
At the China Open, tennis players woke up to a grey sky over Beijing. As we arrived at the venue, the rain kept falling heavily, and it didn’t look like it would stop anytime soon. Matches at the Lotus Court, Moon Court and Brad Drewett Court were delayed.
