Since the establishment of knighthood, its members have been a popular subject for artists in portraits, religious representations, and myth.

In medieval Europe, accounts of King Arthur and his court were the most popular, after the Bible, and the king was also depicted in tapestries and manuscripts.

Off the coast of Cornwall, at the southern tip of the UK, on a clear day, the Isles of Scilly can be seen at some distance. Those islands, some say, are the peaks of a sunken land that was a prosperous kingdom in the days of yore.
