Huntington Beach city council

The city council voted to create a 21-member panel of community members who will be given oversight of the books in the city’s five libraries.

The resolution passed 4–3, with exceptions for residents and city employees who have tested positive for the virus or for first responders responding to calls.

“[The city’s proposal] conflicts with state law and would only serve to suppress voter participation without providing any discernible local benefit.”
