Several family members of those killed and injured in the Humboldt Broncos crash say they still have one big question: Why? They want to know why a semi-truck driver barreled through a stop sign at a rural Saskatchewan intersection and into the path of the junior hockey team’s bus. They also want to hear from the driver himself.
The driver of a transport truck involved in a deadly crash with the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team’s bus pleaded guilty on Jan. 8 to all charges against him. “I plead guilty, your honour,” Jaskirat Singh Sidhu said as he stood before a judge in a court in Melfort, Sask.
He said he doesn’t want a trial—it would only make matters worse.
The driver of the transport truck that crashed into the Broncos junior hockey team plead guilty to all the charges against him in court on Jan. 8. It will take a few more days until the sentencing. In the meantime, officials are surveying the area of the crash to make the area less accident-prone, and setting up a new requirements for all transportation truck drivers.
