About 1.2 million cubic meters of water was used to cool down fuel rods at the Fukushima plant following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that occurred in March 2011.
The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), which is currently handling cleanup efforts at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in Japan, is pushing the country’s fisheries federation to allow more dumping of radioactive wastewater into the Pacific Ocean.
