Researchers found that Coolpad Group Limited, the sixth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world and third largest in China, had installed a backdoor into their phones and had gone to great lengths to keep it hidden from users.

Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi entered the India market this year and recently triggered fears of security breaches in its phones. The company issued a statement saying it has fixed the problem, but experts say it was only a band-aid.

Mysterious files were found on two models of Sony Xperia smartphones which researchers found are relaying data to Chinese servers.
