In an attempt to make India’s capital safe for women, the U.S. government has granted $250,000 for a program “Delhi Safe City: Free of Violence against Women and Girls.”
Activists have filed legal proceedings alleging that Indian media’s irresponsible behavior, through sensational reporting on the Delhi rape case, has tarnished the image of the country’s Juvenile Justice Law, which they claim is one of the most liberal and pragmatic laws governing juveniles in the world.
A fast-track Indian court in Delhi is currently mulling over the sentence to 4 convicted on Tuesday of rape and murder of the 23 year old para-medical student in the national capital last year.
