Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) has endorsed former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, making him the fifth Florida lawmaker to do so.

Steube announced his endorsement of Trump in an appearance on Newsmax on April 17 in which he called Trump “the only person that can reverse on day one all these disastrous policies of the Biden administration.”

The Republican went on to add that many of the things that have happened under the Biden administration would simply “never have happened under President Trump.”

“We need to right all the wrongs that have happened under this administration, fix the things that happen in Afghanistan, support our military and our veterans, and do the things that the America First agenda stands for, and that is one person, Donald Trump,” Steube continued, noting that Trump is ”widely supported in my district“ and ”widely supported in Florida.”

“I’m honored to add my endorsement to the long list of endorsements for President Trump,” he added.

Steube’s congressional campaign also released a statement to multiple media outlets declaring that Trump’s first time in office was “full of extraordinary accomplishments.”

“Floridians need him back in the White House to finish the job. No one will drain the corrupt swamp like President Trump. He loves our country and is a proven fighter for our Veterans, Second Amendment Rights, and Border Security. Let’s make America strong, safe, and great once again!” the statement read.

Other Trump Endorsements

Steube is now the fifth member of Florida’s GOP Congressional Delegation to back Trump over the state’s Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is widely expected to announce a 2024 run.
Earlier this month, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) publicly endorsed Trump, declaring him the only leader who can get America “back on track.” Last week, Rep. Cory Mills, (R-Fla.) also backed Trump.

The former president, who announced in November that he would make a third run for president, has also secured endorsements from Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.).

Additionally, Trump has garnered endorsements from Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Sens. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Sens. Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), and J.D. Vance (R-Ohio).

DeSantis, meanwhile, has so far received two House GOP endorsements from Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.). Multiple polls show Trump leading over the Florida governor in a possible 2024 Republican primary matchup.
Over the weekend, Never Back Down, the super PAC backing DeSantis, launched its first TV advertisement taking aim at Trump following his arraignment in Manhattan earlier this month.

DeSantis Supporters Launch Advert

Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records as part of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into allegations that he orchestrated alleged hush-money payments to adult entertainment actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign.

“Donald Trump has been attacked by a Democrat prosecutor in New York. So why is he spending millions attacking the Republican governor of Florida?” the advert from Never Back Down begins before claiming that Trump is “stealing pages from the Biden–Pelosi playbook” and “repeating lies” about cuts to Social Security benefits.

The advert then pans to DeSantis stating, “We’re not going to mess with social security as Republicans.”

“Trump should fight Democrats, not lie about Gov. DeSantis,” the advert concluded. “What happened to Donald Trump?”

Responding to the advertisement on Monday, Trump took to Truth Social where he declared: “Nobody has been stronger for the 2nd Amendment than President Donald J. Trump, and yet, Ron DeSanctus took an advertisement this weekend saying, of all things, I was in agreement with Crazy Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, NOT. ‘Wow, that’s like Democrat Disinformation!’”

In a separate post, the former president added, “Social Security and Medicare, and Ron’s attack on both, have destroyed DeSanctimonious” and that the Florida governor has “lost his supporters and his support, and MAGA refuses to Endorse disloyal people!”
