First Photo Shared From Filming New “Fast and the Furious” Spinoff

Updated:

Dwayne Johnson posted a black and white photo on Sept. 10 indicating that shooting of his new “Fast and Furious” spinoff has officially begun.

“DAY 1 and the evolution has officially begun. Long awaited Fast & Furious spin-off movie, #HobbsAndShaw is electric,” Johnson said.

He commented on his partner wearing a sleek suit standing before a fancy sports car in front of a stylish building, “@jasonstatham is lookin’ like $1million bucks and holdin’ it all down.”

In the photo, Statham seems to be having an interesting conversation with director David Leitch. Statham also posted the same photo on his Instagram page.

“Getting the instructions from an old pal and the Director of our film @davidmleitch. Massive respect to you Dave for the incredible vision and scope you have planned for this movie. There are big things to come!” he wrote.

Statham also used the opportunity to tease Johnson.

“The other big thing to come will be arriving imminently, that’s if he can peel himself away from his stack of pancakes. My partner in crime on this one, the colossal and world wide loved and respected @therock Just warming things up for you brother! See you on British soil soon,” he wrote.

Johnson is currently working in Hawaii to film Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” and will arrive in the UK in two weeks.

“Hobbs and Shaw” centers around Johnson, who has played former Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs since 2011’s “Fast Five,” and Statham, who has played veteran and mercenary Deckard Shaw since 2015’s “Furious 7.”

Helen Mirren will play Shaw’s feisty mother, and Vanessa Kirby will be his sister, who is also a MI-5 (Millitary Intelligence, Section 5) agent.

Johnson also welcomed Idris Elba to join the cast as a villain on July 5 on Instagram. More details about the movie are yet to be announced.

“Hobbs and Shaw” is due in theaters on Aug. 2, 2019, and “Fast 9” will be released in 2020.
