HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—A fiery single-vehicle crash in the Hollywood area April 3 left a woman dead and three other people injured, two critically, authorities said.
It happened about 2:30 a.m. in the 8200 block of Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The vehicle—a Tesla Model X—apparently crashed in Hollywood and came to fiery rest in West Hollywood, according to Lt. J. Aguirre of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.
A woman riding in the front passenger seat died at the scene, and two other women riding in the back seat were injured, according to the police department. Both injured women were taken to a hospital, one in stable condition and one in critical condition, the agency reported.
The male driver of the Tesla got out and was picked up and taken to a hospital by someone driving another vehicle, police said.
“Investigators found the driver at a local hospital,” the police department said. “That driver is currently in critical condition and unable to be interviewed.”
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses, they said.
Video from the scene showed the charred remnants of the vehicle and Los Angeles city firefighters dousing it with water. Los Angeles police officers and West Hollywood sheriff’s deputies were sent to the scene.
Sunset Boulevard was closed in the area for the investigation and cleanup.
