House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) confirmed Tuesday that his committee conducted a transcribed interview with an FBI whistleblower while his panel investigates the Department of Justice and bureau.

“We’ve now had dozens of whistleblowers come talk to House Republican staff on the Judiciary Committee,” Jordan said in a news conference. “In fact, one of [the whistleblowers] is testifying in a transcribed interview as we speak.”

An FBI whistleblower is testifying to Republicans on Tuesday about how the “Justice Department is operating in such a political fashion and manner,” Jordan said. The identity of the whistleblower wasn’t disclosed, but at least a dozen whistleblowers have come forward to Jordan in recent months to talk about the alleged politicization of the FBI and DOJ.

The FBI declined to comment on Jordan’s statement Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, Jordan promised the House Judiciary Committee will bring more “accountability” to the Biden administration, asserting that “everything has gotten worse.” After two years, he added, “we have a government that now, I believe, is targeting the people it is supposed to serve,” saying: “It is supposed to be equal treatment under the law.”

Republicans recently formed a panel to investigate the “weaponization” of federal agencies, while Judiciary Republicans’ have launched investigations into how the FBI has handled its investigations into classified documents that were in the possession of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

In August, days after the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida for allegedly classified materials, Jordan told Fox News that over a dozen whistleblowers came forward with various complaints about the bureau.

“Fourteen FBI agents have come to our office as whistleblowers, and they are good people,” Jordan said at the time. “There are lots of good people in the FBI. It’s the top that is the problem.”
“Some of these good agents are coming to us, telling us … what’s going on—the political nature now of the Justice Department … talking about the school board issue, about a whole host of issues,” he added.

Other Activity

Last week, in an unrelated investigation, Jordan sent subpoenas—which were reviewed by The Epoch Times—to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona regarding Garland’s directive and memo issued in October 2021 about investigations into alleged threats against school board members and teachers.

The three officials have until March 1 to produce communications and documents to the Judiciary Committee related to the “misuse of federal criminal and counterterrorism resources.”

“Since October 2021, Judiciary Committee Republicans have sent over one hundred letters to Biden Administration officials requesting answers about how the Administration used federal counterterrorism resources against American parents,” the House Judiciary Committee said in a later news release about the subpoenas.

The FBI told The Epoch Times on Feb. 3 that the bureau received the subpoena but stressed that neither Wray nor other FBI officials were targeting individuals for their speech. Instead, the bureau is investigating potential threats of violence, the FBI statement said.

“The FBI has never been in the business of investigating speech or policing speech at school board meetings or anywhere else, and we never will be. Our focus is and always will be on protecting people from violence and threats of violence,” a spokesperson for the FBI said. “We are fully committed to preserving and protecting First Amendment rights including the right to free speech.”

The subpoenas came after a DOJ official in January told Jordan in a letter that documents and information related to various investigations won’t be released to his panel.

Also, this week, Jordan and House Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) sent more letters to former U.S. officials about their 2020 statement that a laptop purported to belong to Hunter Biden was part of a Russian disinformation plot.

“The Judiciary Committee made prior requests to you for documents and information about the public statement you signed in October 2020 that falsely implied The New York Post’s reporting about Hunter Biden was the product of Russian disinformation,” the lawmakers wrote, reported The Washington Times.

Those officials include former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former National Security Agency Director Michael Hayden, and former Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Michael Vickers, the paper reported.

“You have been on notice about our oversight requests—and aware the requests are outstanding—for months,” they added. “Accordingly, we reiterate our requests and ask that you comply promptly.”
