Falling Tree Kills Man as Storm Lashes California

SAN FRANCISCO—A falling tree killed a man in Oakland on Jan. 16, as a powerful storm lashed Northern California with high winds and rain, authorities said.

The man was struck on an embankment near Interstate 580 and died at the scene.
