NTD’s
9th International Chinese Vocal Competition was held in New York from Sept. 18 to Sept. 21. Ten contestants qualified for the finals, with two winning gold awards, one winning silver, and three winning bronze. Four others received Awards of Excellence.
Mezzo soprano Chunqing Zhang and soprano Yue Li, both based in Germany, received gold awards.
Mezzo soprano Fengzhen Liu from the United States received the silver award.
Three singers were awarded the bronze award: Baritone Shaofeng Zheng, based in the United States; tenor Jun Wen Wong, based in Malaysia; and tenor Vincent Ji, based in the United States.
Awards of Excellence were given to soprano Chau Nguyen from Vietnam, soprano Jieun Lee from Korea, soprano Chia-Yi Huang from the United States, and soprano Yuchuan Zhang from Canada.
The “International Chinese Vocal Competition” is one of a series of international cultural and arts events hosted by
NTD Television Network.
The aim of the vocal competition is to promote traditional vocal arts, authenticity, goodness, and beauty, and provide an arena for Chinese vocalists to showcase their talents.
