Efforts to evacuate an American cave explorer trapped more than 1,000 meters underground in southern Turkey can begin, said Mersin Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan on Sept. 9. According to the local official, doctors have evaluated Mark Dickey, 40, and he is expected to be brought out of the cave in the next few days.
