Actor Eric Mabius, best known for his role portraying Daniel Meade on the television show “Ugly Betty,” was arrested on two misdemeanor charges in Florida.
According to arrest records obtained by The Epoch Times, the 53-year-old was taken into custody on Feb. 20 and booked in the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center.
Mabius was charged with battery and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence after an alleged bar fight near Fernandina Beach.
The arresting officer details Mabius was accompanied by a female companion at the time of the altercation, with both being asked to leave the establishment by a bartender and fellow patrons.
Upon arrival, officers described Mabius and the female as “extremely intoxicated” adding they “kept trying to yell at everyone in the bar.”
Giving a written statement, the unnamed female victim involved claimed the woman began pushing her when she insisted she leave, before Mabius knocked her and his companion to the ground.
Further, the victim alleged the actor “got on top of her and was pulling her hair ripping a handful of her hair from her scalp.”
As a result, multiple individuals at the bar intervened and were able to pull both Mabius and the female off the alleged victim.
Following the altercation, police said Mabius failed to follow simple commands or directions and became increasingly “belligerent” as time went on, which required the intervention of several deputies.
In his mugshot, the actor is seen in an orange jumpsuit with what appears to be a black eye with cuts on the right side of his face.
It is unclear whether he remains in custody and when he is slated to make a court appearance.
Throughout his career, he has appeared in more than 70 television and film credits combined, including “Resident Evil,” “Cruel Intentions,” “The OC,” and “Blue Bloods.”
Most recently, he landed a starring role in Hallmark’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” franchise and appeared in other original holiday films on the channel.
Mabius shares two children—sons Maxfield, 18, and Rylan, 16—with his wife, Ivy Sherman.
