With a career in the spotlight spanning three decades, television personality Brooke Burke is currently enjoying western life in Arizona with her family.

During an interview with Fox News, published Friday, Burke shared why she and her fiancé, Scott Rigsby, are satisfied with living a “simple” life in a small town.

“There’s something about the desert that’s just so calming and so peaceful for me. I love the desert sunsets. It really represents family time for Scott and I and the kids. Our parents are there and my mom, his mom and dad. It’s a lot of R&R, and I need that,” she said.

“It is secluded. We’re in the mountains. I absolutely love it. It’s got this very small downtown that’s sort of a small-town feel,” she added about her town. “There’s a rodeo there. I mean, it really brings me back to my roots. It’s very simple. I mean, Scott and I get there. We hardly ever leave the house unless for the rodeo. We cook, we make pizzas.”

For Burke, who grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and chose to raise her blended family in the Grand Canyon State, one of her “favorite experiences” is going to the rodeo.

“For those people that have never been to a rodeo, it’s definitely a must-have bucket list; fun, great music, live bands, bull riding. Everybody is in denim and cutoffs. It’s casual. There’s like a cowboy barbecue. It’s so much fun and I love country music and I love to dance.

“So I love line dancing. I love country swinging. It’s just a blast. I take the kids, so much fun,” she said.

Family Life

Burke and Rigsby got engaged in 2021. The model has a daughter and a son with her ex-husband, David Charvet, and two daughters from her first husband, Garth Fisher. Rigsby has two children from a previous relationship.

The couple initially planned to get married in May, but due to the various schedules of their blended family, they chose to postpone their wedding.

“We hoped to get married in May, and May came and went quickly,” she told People in June. “School, two of our children turning 16, getting their driver’s license, Sierra graduating from USC. Neriah was supposed to be on tour. We finished building our home in Arizona.”

“We didn’t have a minute to breathe, let alone plan the greatest party of our life,” she continued. “So back to the drawing board, and now we need to get really busy.”

Rigsby told the outlet that they are intentional about involving their family in the ceremony, which is why they are choosing to take things slow.

“I think for us, it’s having the experience. I mean, the whole reason to do it, too, is for the kids and for us and the family. So we want to do it right. We just don’t want to rush into it,” he said, before Burke added, “Yeah, I’m not rushing.”

“I said we could always go get married on a weekend or plan something quick, but we want to just do it right,” Rigsby said.

Born on Oct. 8, 1971, in Hartford, Connecticut, Brooke Burke launched her career in the spotlight in her early 20s as a model. She then made her hosting debut on E!’s travel series “Wild On” from 1999 to 2002. Following her time on the show, she went on to host programs including “Rock Star: INXS,” “She’s Got the Look,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and several Miss America pageants. In 2008, Burke won the seventh season of “Dancing with the Stars” with partner Derek Hough.

As a fitness educator, Burke released a DVD series of her personal workouts with Sony Pictures. She has also appeared on several magazine covers, including “Fitness,” “Women’s Health,” and “Ladies Home Journal.”
