Tori Spelling expressed gratitude for her final conversation with late actress Shannen Doherty.

Ms. Doherty died on July 13 at 53 years old after a 10-year battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog, Bowie, according to a statement from her publicist, Leslie Sloane.

On Tuesday’s episode of the “9021OMG” podcast, Ms. Spelling said that she had been reluctant to speak publicly about the late actress due to feeling unready.

“For me I honestly, as you know, didn’t want to do this. I just emotionally didn’t feel ready,” Ms. Spelling said. “I know a lot of people are speaking out and giving lovely tributes to her in her memory, but I just, I obviously wanted to do this for the fans, so this episode is for them, not for us.”

Ms. Spelling, 51, also shared that she is “super grateful” for her last conversation with Ms. Doherty, sharing her desire to learn from past experiences with departed loved ones.

“I’ve had a lot of death in my life, and I don’t believe in regrets, but I have a lot of regrets that I didn’t have that time to have a second chance to get past stuff from the past and look at all the good things and really talk it out and have that last conversation,” she said.

“I feel like she and I had that, and I’m super grateful for that,” she added.

Ms. Spelling said she has experienced fear in her life, but that she was not afraid when Ms. Doherty passed.

“I’ve spent my whole life living in fear, and I’ve always been a fearful person, and I didn’t feel fear at all when she passed. I just felt sad,” she said. “I felt sad for the second chapter she had, and I was so excited for that chapter for her and wanted her so badly to have that.”

Co-host and fellow “Beverly Hills 90210” co-star Jennie Garth shared that she was glad Ms. Spelling had a heartfelt conversation with their late co-star and wished she had a conversation with her, too.

“I was thinking definitely of you, Tor, and how happy you must have been to have that time with her and to have that sort of just reconnection on a deeper level as both of you matured and grown and learned so much,” Ms. Garth said.

“I wished that I had had that opportunity because I didn’t really get to sit down and have like heartfelt conversation with her recently, but I was very glad that you did,” she said.

Remembering Doherty

On July 15, Ms. Spelling shared an Instagram post that paid tribute to Ms. Doherty and reflected on their friendship of over 30 years.

“In a world where we often don’t get to make up with the childhood friendships that formed so much of the adult you become, we got that chance,” Ms. Spelling said.

“I’m grateful @theshando and I got to go back in time as adult friends and remember why we truly loved each other to begin with. To reminisce. And, to iconically laugh again like we used to. No one could make me laugh like that. Core laughs!”

“Shan… I’ll carry the torch on. Take on my power! And, I’ll stay rebellious for you. Love you with all my heart. Always,” she said.

Ms. Garth, 52, also paid tribute to her late co-star in her own Instagram post, highlighting their “real” and “honest” connection.

“I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long time friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known,” she said.

“She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie and all the people who loved her,” she added.
