Tom Holland plans on leaving his acting career behind once he has a family.
The 28-year-old actor, who gained worldwide recognition for his role as Spider-Man, said he will “disappear” from the spotlight when he has children.
“When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” he told Men’s Health in an interview published on Jan. 2, noting that he will spend his time golfing and being a dad.
“Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.”
Holland has been in a public relationship with Hollywood star Zendaya since 2021, years after their joint on-screen debut in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017).
Holland has previously been open about switching priorities from work to fatherhood in the upcoming years as he looks forward to becoming a dad someday.
“I’ve spent the last six years being so focused on my career,” he told People in 2021. “I want to take a break and focus on starting a family and figuring out what I want to do outside of this world.
“I love kids. I can’t wait to be a dad. If I’m at a wedding or a party, I’m always at the kids’ table hanging out. My dad’s been such a great role model for me. I think I’ve got that from him.”
In 2023, Holland announced he was taking a year-long hiatus from acting after taking on a heavy role in the Apple TV+ series “The Crowded Room.”
“I’m no stranger to hard work,” he told Extra. “I’ve always sort of lived by this idea that hard work is good work. I really enjoyed it, but then again, the show did break me.
“There did come a time where I was sort of like, ‘I need to have a break.’ I disappeared. I went to Mexico for a week and had some time on a beach.”
Holland and Zendaya will reunite in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, slated to premiere in July 2026. The film follows the multiple movies the couple has starred in together, including “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019), and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021).
“Studios love it—one hotel room!” he joked with hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett before adding that they have separate drivers. “We’re not crazy. It’s work, alright?”
The actor also expressed how much he enjoys having Zendaya by his side on sets.
“It’s a saving grace. Best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he said.
As for Zendaya’s family expectations, she hopes her future children do not have to “deal with” the demands that come with being famous.
Instead, the actress told Vogue that she would ideally be able to “make things and pop out when I need to pop out, and then have a safe and protected life with my family, and not be worried that if I’m not delivering something all the time, or not giving all the time, that everything’s going to go away.”
Born in London on June 1, 1996, Holland made his film debut in “The Impossible” (2012), where he played a teenager trapped in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Other early film appearances for the actor include “How I Live Now” (2013) and “Heart of the Sea” (2015).
Holland’s more recent projects include “Uncharted” (2022), “Last Call” (2022), and “The Crowded Room” (2023).
