Thomas Guiry, best known for his role as Scotty Smalls in the classic 1993 baseball film “The Sandlot,” was arrested earlier this month following an altercation with a neighbor.

On June 2, according to police reports and surveillance footage obtained by TMZ, Mr. Guiry allegedly threw a dumbbell at his neighbor’s Jeep, damaging the windshield. The footage reportedly shows Mr. Guiry casually returning home after the incident. When confronted by the neighbor, Mr. Guiry offered to pay for the repairs, stating, “That sucks man, I’ll pay you back, I’m sorry, I’m gonna get you back.” It is not clear what led to the incident.

However, the situation escalated when a separate doorbell camera allegedly captured images of the 43-year-old actor with a knife, approaching the neighbor’s house, who called the police.

Officers arriving at the scene found Mr. Guiry in the street and reportedly determined he was not a threat to the homeowner or his wife. Mr. Guiry allegedly admitted to damaging the Jeep.

He was arrested on charges of third-degree assault and battery, as well as malicious injury to property. Mr. Guiry was booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center but released the next day on $1,000 bond. He was ordered to pay more then $700 in fines and credited with time served.

During the court proceedings, the victims described approximately two hours of chaos, which included yelling and screaming, and three calls to 911, according to local news WBTV. Mr. Guiry pleaded guilty to charges of assault and battery, disorderly conduct, and malicious damaging. He left the courthouse with his wife, declining to comment to local media.

This incident marks Mr. Guiry’s second recorded brush with the law. In 2013, he faced charges of assaulting a public servant during an altercation at an airport in New Jersey.

The Epoch Times contacted the Horry County Sheriff’s Office for a comment, but a statement was not available as of publication time.

While Mr. Guiry has appeared in films including “Black Hawk Down” and “Mystic River,” his most recognizable role remains Scotty Smalls, a character who embodied the joys of childhood friendship and camaraderie.

Mr. Guiry is currently part of a comedy film titled “Fuggeddaboutitt,” which is in post-production. The movie is directed by Ray Martin and features real-life mobster Tony Clams. The plot revolves around a film crew realizing they’re trapped in a real-life mob hit.
