Teen actor Hudson Meek, best known for his role in the hit action movie “Baby Driver,” has died at 16 years old.

According to his obituary, Meek died on Dec. 21, surrounded by family and friends, after falling from a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.

Meek sustained blunt force trauma in the fall on Dec. 19 and was admitted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” read a post on Meek’s Instagram profile.

“His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

According to local reports, authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

Tributes began pouring in across social media from those who knew Meek and worked with him.

Meg Deusner, the owner of Acting Out, a performing arts academy in Vestavia Hills that Meek belonged to, remembered him as a “magical person.”

“Hudson Meek was a beloved and talented member of the Acting Out Academy community since the beginning. But that is just one piece of the magical person that he was. He was kind, he was faithful, he was funny and lit up any room. He touched so many lives and will be missed beyond measure,” Deusner said.

“The whole Meek family has been a huge part of our community and was instrumental in making Acting Out and many of our actors what we are today. Our hearts are broken as we continue to pray for them.”

Established Career

A sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, Meek was a member of the Vestavia Hills Rebel Football Team and was passionate about faith, sports, acting for television and film, and gathering with loved ones.

He made his on-screen debut in 2014’s “The Santa Con” and held various acting and voice-over credits over his short yet well-established career.

He is best known for playing the younger version of the main character in the critically acclaimed film “Baby Driver.” The box office hit propelled his career and he went on to land roles on the network series “MacGyver” and “Found” and as the voice lead in “Badanamu Stories.”

His obituary states Meek worked on several major motion pictures and television shows before his passing, some of which will be released in 2025.

“He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew,” it reads.

Meek is survived by his parents, older brother, and grandmothers.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Dec. 28, at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama, with the service being livestreamed on Meek’s Instagram account.
