Sulky husband rolls his eyes as he poses for back-to-school pic with wife’s comical sign

As summer winds down and autumn kicks in, it’s time for students and teachers to head back to school.

During the back-to-school season, parents began flooding social media platforms with creative, hilarious images of their little darlings going back to school.

Mom Jennifer Lee, of Greensboro, North Carolina, was no exception. Except that she posted a photo of her husband instead.

Well, her husband, Tyrelle Lee, is an 8th-grade teacher, who is always looking for ways to relate to his students.

To connect with his students, Tyrelle deliberately wears a different pair of Vans sneakers to class each day.

“His students can’t wait to get to class each day to see which pair he has on,” Jennifer wrote for Love What Matters.

A funny back-to-school photo would be a great way to help Tyrelle build rapport with his students, Jennifer thought.

So, she told Tyrelle she wanted to snap a “first-day-of-school” photo of him this year.

“He didn’t ask too many questions and said ‘okay,’” Jennifer wrote.

Unbeknownst to Tyrelle, Jennifer crafted a comical sign that read “1,080th day of teaching.”

The sign also indicated his age, favorite color, and interests—football, chicken wings, and Vans sneakers.

On Aug. 27, when Tyrelle headed back to Southeast Guilford Middle School to teach, Jennifer made him pose with the wacky sign.

“When it came time for the picture he wasn’t super excited (as you can see) but he did it for me anyway (now that’s love!)” Jennifer shared.

Reluctantly, the husband pulled a long face, and rolled his eyes, as he looked at the camera. The sulky expression on his face was ever-so comical.

Tyrelle’s expression aptly fits in with the words appearing at the bottom right-hand corner of the sign—“I can’t believe my wife made me do this.”

After being shared on Facebook, the photo quickly went viral, receiving over 20,000 reactions.

“This is the best back to school post I’ve seen! Hahaha,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “This is hilarious!! And so much better than the kid ones!”

The best part was the photo struck a chord among Tyrelle’s students.

They came to the class saying, “My mom saw you on Facebook—that was funny!”

“We’ve also seen so many comments on Facebook from parents of past students saying how much their kids loved him as a teacher, so that has been so nice to hear,” Jennifer told CafeMom.

Tyrelle sure is a great teacher for going out of his way to connect with his students.
