Actor Gabriel Macht, best known for his role as Harvey Specter in the hit television series “Suits,” has no desire to return to Hollywood aside from a few episodes in the show’s new spin-off.
“I had very little interest in coming back to work as an actor right now because I spent so much time [doing it] and this was my time to really raise my kids and to do this creative stuff like Bear Fight,” he said, referring to his Whiskey brand.
Macht also recently shared that he and his family moved out of the United States to an undisclosed location, which also contributed to his acting hiatus.
The Los Angeles native spent the majority of his life and career between the West Coast and East Coast and is enjoying keeping his family under wraps while “exploring the world.”
However, Macht will reprise his role in three episodes of the NBC legal drama spinoff “Suits L.A.” and only made the exception with one specific reason in mind.
“I’m just doing it for the fans. I’m not doing it for me. I’ve done it 134 times. I’m not doing it for me,” he said.
Macht gave credit to “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh for working with him and allowing him to make a re-appearance that made sense for his family, while propelling the show forward with the cast in Los Angeles.
“If I [could have] anything to do with helping support the show and getting it off [the ground], it’s almost like [giving] a blessing,” he said.
Suits L.A. is set to premiere on Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. Macht revealed he has yet to shoot his sequence and will begin filming in a couple of weeks.
“A couple of the episodes that I’ve read are really good. They’re right in line. And if you’re a fan of the show, you’re just going to fall right into it,” he noted.
“I’ve read some scripts, and I see what it is and I understand now how the character of Ted and Harvey connect. So I’m looking forward to seeing the dynamic between the two,” Macht said of the new high-powered attorney on the show.
The original “Suits” series follows the story of Macht’s character, a big-time corporate lawyer in Manhattan, and his team, which included actors Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, and Meghan Markle.
Macht starred in the series throughout all nine seasons and 134 episodes, from 2011 to 2019.
