Singer, songwriter, David Anthony Burke, known professionally by his stage name, d4vd, is going viral after landing badly during a back flip attempt while performing at Coachella.

The 20-year-old musician posted video of the incident to X on April 11, during his set on day one of the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.

In the clip, Burke was performing his song, “Leave Her,” to a packed crowd, before launching his body towards the sound stage and failing to gain momentum, slipping, and falling face first.

Visibly in pain from the stunt, Burke persisted with a smile and carried on with his set as the performance marked his debut at the event.

In a follow-up video, he continued to do several more back-flips but wanted to assure fans and concertgoer that the fall didn’t cause too much harm.

“GOT UP AND GOT DA AURA RIGHT BACK,” he wrote on X. “LMAOOO FUN SET.”
“Humiliation ritual complete,” he continued in a separate post. “See u next week coachella i love u.”

Born in Queens, New York, before moving to Houston, Texas, with his mother, Burke initially rose to fame on YouTube, by making gaming videos playing the popular video game “Fortnite.”

At his mother’s recommendation, he began producing his own music after having trouble sourcing songs to his video game montages and facing copyright strikes.

In 2022, he released a number of singles including his hits “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” which had viral TikTok success and went multi-platinum.

He has since signed with Darkroom and Interscope records and is set to release his debut album “Withered,” later this month.

Speaking to Paper magazine prior to weekend one of Coachella, the singer expressed his excitement for the event and what performing live means to him as a rising artist.

“Live performances have been a crazy journey and a wild ride for me,” he told the outlet.

“Going from never seeing a live show to playing my own show, going on my first tour without any prior knowledge of what a live show was like from an audience perspective, it was kind of like “What am I doing?””

He went on to give credit to the fans, noting he hopes to incorporate his relationship and background with the internet, as well as gaming into his music.

“The fans become the background dancers, the fans become the background singers. You get to interact with your fans the most. Fan interaction was the focal point. It’s like, ‘How can I make this an experience for the people that came here and paid money to see me?’”

“Everything I do, I try to merge my influences and what I came up on. I was a YouTuber and streamer first so I try to find new ways to include that in my artistry and make sure my worlds stay collided,” he added. “It’s all translated into this Coachella set. I’m excited.”

The annual Coachella festival is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, for three-days over two consecutive weekends and attracts approximately 250,000 people each year.

The event features star-studded lineups and musical performances from a wide variety of genres including electronic dance music, pop, rock, indie and hip-hop.

D4vd is also expected to perform next weekend, for the second round of the festival.
