Roseanne Barr to Perform in Indiana at Lerner Theatre in Elkhart

Roseanne Barr, whose show was canceled earlier this year after she published a controversial tweet, is scheduled to perform in Indiana.

Barr will perform May 17 at The Lerner Theatre in Elkhart.

“Comedy superstar, award-winning actress, best-selling author, 2012 presidential candidate and the original domestic goddess, Roseanne Barr continues to amaze. After nine years, 224 episodes, four Emmy awards, and countless other accolades, you couldn’t blame Roseanne if she wanted to quietly slip away, able to take solace in the fact she single-handedly re-landscaped the medium of situational comedy forever,” the theatre said in a statement.

“A titan in the world of stand-up comedy, Roseanne has returned to her love for live performance, touring select cities around North America.”

The tickets range from $38 to $73.

It’s not clear where else Barr will be performing on her tour.

‘Roseanne’ Canceled

“Roseanne” became a target after it was announced that the reboot would feature the title character being an open supporter of President Donald Trump, a rarity in Hollywood both on and offscreen.

The show drew high ratings, though, and a second season of the reboot was ordered.

However, Roseanne sent out a tweet stating that Valerie Jarrett was a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.” After she sent the missive, ABC executives quickly canceled the show despite its popularity.

Barr said in July in her first interview after the show’s cancellation that she was sorry, referring to her tweet as “a bad joke.”

“I’ve apologized a lot, it’s been two months,” Barr said. “I feel like I have apologized and explained and asked for forgiveness and made recompense, that’s part of my religion.”

‘The Conners’

Following the cancellation, executives sought to capture the audience of “Roseanne” with a spinoff featuring many of the same characters minus Roseanne.

ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey told IndieWire that “there were a lot of stories to be told in that family.”

“I was also happy to put the crew back to work, and we were able to bring back the majority of people who were involved with ‘Roseanne’ and so the idea that those people who were adversely impacted by the decision to cancel, the idea that they were able to go back to work is a good thing,” she added.

“The Conners” has struggled ratings-wise and some believed the way the character of “Roseanne” was killed off was morbid.

“That it was done through an opioid overdose lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show,” Barr said in October after the death took place in the premiere. She wished the cast and crew well.
