At least one person was killed and two others were injured in a Canadian boating accident that involved “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary, who was on board.
He added: “Out of respect for the families who have lost loved ones and to fully support the ongoing investigation, I feel it is inappropriate to make further comments at this time. My thoughts are with all the families affected.”
TMZ reported that O’Leary owned the boat that was involved in the crash. O'Leary, however, hasn’t confirmed the report.
The report also said that his boat allegedly rammed into the larger boat and went over the bow and hit a male in the head, killing him.
Police said that a critical aspect of the investigation is whether the larger boat had its lights on.
A representative for the celebrity told the news outlet that his wife was driving the boat during the time of the crash. She was given a DUI test and passed.
The spokesperson said that the other boat involved in the accident fled the scene. According to TMZ, the owner of the other boat said O’Leary’s boat left the scene.
O’Leary also told the Sun that he can’t talk about the incident.
“I can’t speak on it,” O’Leary said. “Sorry, I don’t think there’s been any release of that information, so I have no comment. Sorry. Thanks.”
A local police official, Martin Graham, said it is too early to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash.
Anyone with information about the crash can call 1-800-222-8477, or Crimestoppers. “If anybody, specifically anybody that was out on the beautiful Saturday night, if they were out overlooking Lake Joseph around 11:30, if they saw or heard anything, the police would welcome them to call us,” added Graham.
Other than “Shark Tank,” he has also appeared on the CBC’s “Dragon’s Den” and “The Lang and O’Leary Exchange.”
O’Leary also appears on business news shows and appeared on CNBC last Tuesday.
He has also posted photos of a boat on his Instagram, but it’s not clear if it was the one involved in the accident.
Other details about the incident are not clear.
