Kevin Hart Able to Walk After Serious Car Crash: Report

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart is reportedly able to walk following a serious car crash in Southern California over the weekend.

Hart, 40, is still hospitalized in a Los Angeles-area medical facility and may need back surgery, reported TMZ-like entertainment website The Blast. He is still undergoing tests to determine if surgery is necessary.

A source told the news outlet that it is “not a spinal cord injury,“ and Hart is ”able to walk and move his extremities.”

TMZ posted photos of the wreck on Sept. 1, showing his totaled vintage Plymouth Barracuda.

Officials told TMZ that the driver of the vehicle, identified by the Los Angeles Times and in other media reports as friend Jared Black, was pinned under his seat next to the roof. A female passenger was also pinned, but she reportedly didn’t suffer any injuries.

The LA Times identified the female passenger as a 31-year-old woman from Woodland Hills, California.

The fire department had to cut off the roof to remove the two. The driver was airlifted to the UCLA Medical Center, TMZ reported, adding that both his and Hart’s conditions are not yet known.

Reports said that Hart wasn’t driving. Police officials said there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved, according to ABC7.

The California Highway Patrol confirmed Hart sustained injuries in the 12:45 a.m. crash, reported ABC7. It took place around Mulholland Highway and Cold Canyon Road.

“Two of the three occupants were trapped inside,” the CHP added to the LA Times. “The remaining occupant and the owner of the vehicle, Kevin Hart, left the scene to his nearby residence to get medical attention.”

According to an Instagram post in July, Hart said he bought the Barracuda for himself on his 40th birthday.

On Saturday, before the crash, he wrote that he was happy to be home.

“Being home makes me happy....enjoy your weekend people!!!! #LiveLoveLaugh,” Hart wrote on Instagram.

On social media a number of celebrities, including Bryan Cranston and Dwayne Johnson, wished him well.
