Carey Hart, a former professional freestyle motocross competitor and the husband of singer Pink, posted a photo with a warning that wildfire looters will be “shot on site.”
“It’s unfortunate that some people take advantage of others in a crisis. While the Malibu fires have been burning, some locals have been fighting off and defending their property against the fires,” he wrote.
Then, he added that “there have been sightings of looters breaking into homes” in the area.
“Well, if you are a looter, think twice if you are heading back into malibu. #DefendYourLand #2ndamendment,” he wrote on Instagram along with a black-and-white photo of about a dozen gun-wielding men.
A sign posted in the area, according to the Instagram post, says “Looters will be shot on site.” It also said, “PDC Posse.”
The Woolsey Fire, which affected Malibu as well as Los Angeles and Ventura counties, has scorched 97,000 acres, CBS News reported. Two people have died in the fires, and 435 structures were destroyed. It’s currently 47 percent contained.
The Hill Fire in Ventura County left 4,500 acres burned, and it was at 94 percent containment as of Nov. 14.
