The man who played Agent Mulder’s father on the “X-Files,” Peter Donat, died at the age of 90 at his home in Point Reyes Station, Calif. on Sept. 10, according to his wife Maria. Donat died of diabetic complications.
The Canadian-American actor is most famous for his recurring role on the “X-Files” television series, and he also appeared in many other shows, such as “Hawaii Five-O,” and “Murder, She Wrote,” and films like “The Game,” and “The Godfather: Part II.”
Donat started his 50-year career on stage and performed with well-known companies including the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the Stratford Festival in Canada.
He was born in Canada, but later became a naturalized U.S. citizen. He studied drama at Yale University, and his brother Richard Donat and uncle Robert Donat are both actors.
Donat is survived by his wife, three sons, three step-children and 11 grandchildren.
