Singer-songwriter Jordan Knight, best known as the lead vocalist of boy band “New Kids On The Block,” says he is treating his health as a priority, especially while on tour.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, the 54-year-old explained how a healthy lifestyle and staying in shape helps the beloved band keep their energy and youthful spirit high.
The group is currently on their “Magic Summer 2024” tour, performing at stadiums around the country, with inspiration from the 1990 tour of the same name.
“It’s been really hot. Like today, it’s over 100 degrees and we’re going to be performing. So, yeah, we have to pace ourselves. We have to watch what we eat. We want to look good. We want to stay slim. We want to stay healthy,” he said.

Alongside Mr. Knight, the group includes Donnie Wahlberg, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood. Actor Mark Wahlberg was part of the band from 1984 to 1985.

Together, they are excited to be touring again but Mr. Knight notes their “grueling schedule” makes their health regime important.

“Joe and Donnie, they’re doing ice baths during the day to stay cool. I have a little regimen I do before I perform. I’m getting ready for the show and stretch, like some calisthenics.”

Another contributing factor is the group watches what they eat as being on the road can easily sway one off track. Mr. Knight also highlighted a key difference this time around, as the band members “don’t party”.

“We’re not out here eating, you know, burgers, fries and stuff like that. My breakfast is like an egg white omelet with, like, chicken and broccoli and vegetables and stuff like that.”

Formed in 1984, the New Kids On The Block rose to fame in the late ’80s and throughout the early ’90s paved the way for future hit boy bands like “The Backstreet Boys,” “NSYNC,” and “One Direction.”

At the time, the group ranked number 16 on Rolling Stone’s “Top 25 Teen Idol Breakout Moments,” establishing an enormous and loyal fan base that still exists today.

Selling over 80 million records worldwide, the New Kids also won two American Music Awards in 1990 for Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo, or Group and Favorite Pop/Rock Album.

In 1994, they disbanded before coming back together as a group in the early 2000s. Mr. Knight says the move ultimately helped them grow and is reflected in their new music.

He said the band members were “chronically just pissed off at each other,” and that led to “taking that time off, discovering who we were, going down different avenues and then kind of realizing, like, ‘wow, we had something really special.’”

The group released their eighth album in May titled “Still Kids.” It was their first album in over 10 years. The tour includes a mixture of new songs, some of their greatest hits, fan favorites and special guests Paula Abdul and D.J. Jazzy Jeff.
