Warner Bros. released a new extended trailer for the upcoming sci-fi superhero movie “Aquaman” on YouTube on Oct. 5, and there were more than 3.5 million views within two days.
In the film, Jason Momoa plays the son of a man and the queen of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who goes on a quest to save the world.
The extended video footage includes more than five minutes of drama, humor, and fast-paced action scenes with spectacular visual effects.
Nicole Kidman is featured as Aquaman’s mother Queen Atlanta, who falls in love with lighthouse keeper Tom Curry, played by Temuera Morrison.
Their son, Arthur Curry (Momoa) can control the ocean tides, communicate with aquatic animals, swim at superhuman speed, and has amazing strength. James Wan directs this adaption of one of DC Comic’s lesser-known heroes.
The first trailer was released in July, and it was viewed more than 40 million times.
Mera, played by red-headed Amber Heard, joins Arthur, and her power of manipulating water helps Aquaman find his powerful trident and take his place as king. However, Arthur’s half-brother Orm, played by Patrick Wilson, also has his eyes on the throne.
The adventurous journey takes Arthur and Mera both to the depths of the sea and across the Sahara Desert. The couple also encounters villain Black Manta, aka David Kane, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
“Aquaman” is scheduled to open in theaters on Dec. 14 in the UK, Dec. 21 in the U.S. and Dec. 26 in Australia.
