Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars are rallying to aid those impacted by the wildfires devastating Southern California.

Celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Beyoncé, Michael Douglas, Paris Hilton, and the rock group Metallica have issued donations to fire relief funds after multiple blazes swept across the Los Angeles area last week.

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the two largest fires—the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire—have already scorched more than 37,000 acres.

The Palisades Fire broke out on the morning of Jan. 7 in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles and is currently 17 percent contained.
Later that day, the deadly Eaton Fire erupted near Altadena, just north of Pasadena. The blaze, which is only 35 percent contained, has destroyed over 2,700 structures.
Officials have reported 25 fatalities due to the fires, with that number expected to increase.
Two days after the fires broke out, actress Jamie Lee Curtis announced via Instagram that she and her family had donated $1 million to fire relief efforts.

“My husband and I and our children have pledged $1 million from our Family Foundation to start a fund of support for our great city and state and the great people who live and love there,” the 66-year-old wrote.

“I’m in communication with Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass and Senator Schiff as to where those funds need to be directed for the most impact.”

Paris Hilton, who lost her $8.4 million Malibu home in one of the fires, followed suit on Jan. 10.

The socialite and television personality shared online that she was donating to help provide emergency relief to young families and pets.

“My heart is with everyone impacted by the devastating fires here in LA,” Hilton, 43, wrote.

“While I’ve lost my Malibu home, my thoughts are with the countless families who have lost so much more—their homes, cherished keepsakes, the communities they loved, and their sense of stability,” she added.

“As a mom, I can’t imagine the pain and fear of not having a safe place for your babies so I’m launching an emergency fund through my nonprofit 11:11 Media Impact to support displaced families with young children.”

The actress said she would personally match the first $100,000 raised for the fundraiser, which has garnered over $184,000.

“I am looking for others to donate and match alongside me to do our part!” she wrote

On Saturday, actor Michael Douglas announced in an Instagram video that he would be supporting the American Red Cross’s efforts to help those affected by the California wildfires.

Douglas, 80, said he has asked the board of The Douglas Foundation to make a contribution to the humanitarian organization, which the “Wall Street” star said he would match “to try to get the ball rolling.”

“This is just a nightmare tragedy beyond anything that I could have comprehended,” the actor said.

“This is not a question of blue states or red states or Republicans or Democrats. This is humanitarian, and this is really, really a major crisis. So please, please, whatever you can, try to help everybody out.”

Actress Eva Longoria, 49, lent her support to Los Angeles farm workers.

The “Desperate Housewives” star said she is personally matching $50,000 in donations to the nonprofit This Is About Humanity to support frontline essential workers, farm laborers, and families affected by the fires.

“My heart breaks for the City of LA and the devastating fires that have affected so many lives,” she wrote on Instagram on Jan. 11.

“I hope we can come together and support these resilient members of our community. Share, repost or donate if you can.”

Pop star Beyoncé, 43, donated $2.5 million to the newly created LA Fire Relief Fund, launched by her charitable foundation, BeyGOOD.

“Los Angeles we stand with you,” the singer’s charity wrote online.

According to BeyGOOD, the multi-million-dollar donation will go toward those impacted by the Eaton Fire, including families who lost their homes as well as local churches and community centers.

As the fires continue to burn, the Grammy Award-winning rock group Metallica has contributed to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.

The James Hetfield-led band announced on Monday that it had granted $500,000 to the relief funds via its charity, All Within My Hands Foundation.

“In the past week, the community has suffered at least 24 lives lost, nearly 100,000 people under evacuation orders, 40,000 acres burned, and more than 12,000 structures—commercial and residential—destroyed,” Metallica shared via Instagram.

“However, numbers cannot articulate the magnitude of anguish as the disaster upends families and dismantles livelihoods.”
