Lindsay Lohan has expressed enthusiasm about her experience with motherhood seven months following the birth of her son Luai. In an interview with E! News on March 5, the former “Parent Trap” star shared how her role as a mother influences her professional endeavors, particularly her film projects.

“I want to do things that my son can see,” Ms. Lohan, 37, stated. “But I also want to do things that inspire me.”

Acknowledging the significant changes in her life, she remarked, “It’s a learning process—I’m having a different go at it. Figuring out what I want to do and how I want to do it.”

An advantage for Ms. Lohan, who married Bader Shammas in April 2023, is her ability to have her baby close by on set.  “I’m still fortunate he’s young, so I can bring him everywhere. And he is everywhere with me, because I don’t want to leave him. But I think it will definitely play more of a factor as time passes.”

The actress, known for her roles in “Freaky Friday,” has been transparent about the changes she has experienced since becoming a mother, particularly about her postpartum body.

“I am so proud of what this body was able to accomplish during these months of pregnancy and now, recovery,” Ms. Lohan expressed in an August mirror selfie on Instagram, emphasizing the joy she finds in motherhood.

In a humorous reference to her iconic 2004 film “Mean Girls,” she quipped about wearing Frida Mom postpartum underwear, stating, “Because I’m not a regular mom, I’m a postpartum mom.”

Ms. Lohan’s new film, “Irish Wish,” is set to premiere on Netflix on March 15. She filmed it with Luai by her side.

On Monday, Ms. Lohan confirmed the long-awaited sequel to the beloved 2003 body-swap comedy “Freaky Friday” during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live”. She shared the news with host Andy Cohen, stating, “It is [true]. I don’t want to say too much. And we’re both excited.” She humorously added, “I’m gonna speak for Jamie,” referring to her co-star Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis.

Last year, the duo hinted at the possibility of a sequel during an interview with The New York Times to commemorate the film’s 20th anniversary. Ms. Curtis mentioned the enthusiastic reception from fans during her promotional tour for “Halloween Ends,” saying, “Something really touched a chord … I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’” Ms. Lohan chimed in, emphasizing their commitment to creating something beloved by fans.

Although Ms. Lohan confirmed to People magazine on Monday that the sequel is “in the process,” details about the filming schedule remain undisclosed.

The original film, based on a 1972 Mary Rodgers novel, has been adapted multiple times, first in 1976 with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris. In the 2003 adaptation, Ms. Lohan and Ms. Curtis portrayed a mother-daughter duo who magically swapped bodies.

Ms. Lohan’s career trajectory has been marked by highs and lows, from earning $7 million per movie after hits like “The Parent Trap,” “Herbie: Fully Loaded,” and “Mean Girls” to battling addiction and legal troubles.

Ms. Lohan has been candid while discussing her struggles with substance abuse, citing her first DUI arrest at age 20 and subsequent court appearances for drug-related charges. In a 2013 Oprah interview, she admitted to initially lying about her cocaine use and revealed a deeper issue with alcohol, which she said often led to reckless behavior.

Legal woes continued to plague Lohan, with multiple jail sentences stemming from probation violations and misdemeanor charges. However, a turning point came in 2015 when her probation was finally ended following a three-month court-ordered rehab stint.

Lohan credits her time in rehab for helping her turn her life around. This included a move to Dubai for a fresh start, where she found solace in the privacy afforded by the city’s lack of paparazzi.

Ms. Lohan made her acting comeback in 2022 with the Netflix Christmas romantic comedy “Falling For Christmas,”  which marked a new chapter in her journey of recovery and self-discovery.
