Actress Jennie Garth has a new focus during this season of her life.

After prioritizing life in front of the camera, Garth, 52, revealed in a recent interview that acting does not take precedence in her life. Instead, she is focusing on what interests her most.

“I love acting, I love being in front of the camera. I do not love being on a movie set,” she told People Magazine. “I don’t love sitting in my trailer waiting for lighting and everything else, I just don’t. And I don’t love being away from my family all those hours. So I was able to say, that’s not my first priority anymore.”

Garth said that learning to say no to certain offers is “really hard” because people are “used to giving the people what they want and making the money and saying yes to everything.” However, she said, “you just reach a point where you’re like, life is too short to do something that I don’t fully love.”

In 2022, the “Beverly Hills 90210” star received her last acting credit for thriller “Bad Influence” as she turned 50. Upon reaching the milestone, she had a change of heart.

“I wasn’t sure what I was doing for a living anymore,” she said.

Garth said that turning 50 gave her a different perspective on life.

“Turning 50’s a big deal to the world, but it is really a big deal. You start to look at things a little differently. You have a new clarity about what you want to do next [and] what you want to spend your precious time doing,” she said.

“I was able, at least, to say, I don’t want to do this, this and this anymore. I want to focus on something else. And then, you have that clarity within yourself to believe it.”

In recent months, the “What I Like About You” star launched a podcast titled “I Choose Me” and a clothing line, “Me by Jennie Garth,” two projects that have a greater message behind them.

“I decided that I would like to focus on trying to help people or spread some positivity with whatever I do. That’s the message behind the brand, Me by Jennie Garth, and the I Choose Me podcast. It’s all about trying to help people,” she said.

Garth’s QVC clothing line intends to “create looks for women who may need a little help with their outfit choices, and maybe they want to reinvent themselves, and want to feel a little bit more empowered in their clothes, whether they’re just hanging out at home, going to work or going to pick up the kids.”

The actress stays “very busy” working on the line, but she enjoys doing it and meeting her customers, as she looks toward the future.

“There’s so much more I want to do with it. So I really bit off a lot, initially, with doing the podcast and launching the brand, and doing the fashion line. So I am chewing on all of that right now,” she said. “It’s going to be amazing. I’m so looking forward to everything being a success. And then, I will see where I am [and] what’s next.”

Garth’s Acting Career

Settling in Arizona during early adolescence, Garth dropped out of high school to pursue acting in Los Angeles at the age of 15. In 1990, she got her big break following her appearance as Kelly Taylor in the hit teen drama “Beverly Hills 90210.”

Garth won a Young Artist Award for “Best Young Actress Co-Starring in a Television Series” in 1992 for her role in the teen drama.

She went on to appear in several films that decade, such as “Without Consent” (1994), “Falling for You” (1995), and “An Unfinished Affair” (1996).

In 2002, she landed the role of Valerie Tyler in the sitcom “What I Like About You,” co-starring with Amanda Bynes as they appeared in all four seasons.

Garth reprised her role as Kelly Taylor in the spinoff series “90210” in 2008, in which she occasionally appeared alongside late actress Shannen Doherty, who returned to the role of Brenda Walsh.

Throughout the years, Garth has also appeared in several game shows and competitions, such as “Dancing With the Stars,” “Celebrity Family Feud,” “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” and “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”

Garth shares three daughters with her ex-husband, Peter Facinelli.
