Kim Kardashian posted a photo of her fourth child, Psalm West, immediately drawing criticism about the items inside the crib.
Another said, “Congratulations!! However PLEASE consider removing all that bedding and soft base from the crib. A baby should sleep on a firm, flat surface.”
“Younger babies up to 4 months of age are at the highest risk for sleep-related deaths,” Dr. Lana Gagin, a pediatrician at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, told the outlet.
She said that doctors “recommend strict safe sleep practices up until 12 months of age.”
Gagin recommends that parents shouldn’t use products that are designed for cribs, either. That includes stuffed animals, pillows, blankets.
“Parents need to avoid using any soft objects in the bed, and this includes crib bumpers, blankets, pillows, soft toys (and baby positioners),” Gagin said “Place your baby on his or her back on a firm sleep surface, such as a crib or bassinet, with a tight fitting mattress with a tight fitting sheet,” she told Today.com. “The crib should be essentially bare.”
“He’s here and he’s perfect!” she also wrote on May 10, adding: “He’s also Chicago’s twin lol I’m sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her.”
There were 15 newborns in 2018 with the name Psalm, she explained.
“It’s part of a trend toward creativity that’s seen lots and lots of parents turning words into names,” Wattenberg said.
Kardashian’s three other young children are named Chicago, Saint, and North. “Kim and Kanye seem to work hard to give the siblings names that have similar ‘character,'” she said. “This is true of parents I work with as well, whether they favor unusual or traditional names. I wouldn’t expect to find many Psalms in your child’s kindergarten class anytime soon.”
