Actor and singer Kevin Costner is hoping to provide relief and refuge for Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton victims with a new song called “Find Your Way.”

Costner and his band Modern West released the single on Oct. 11. All proceeds are going to Hope Force International (HFI) in Brentwood, Tennessee.

“I’ve gone through seasons of darkness where I clung to the lyrics of songs that really carried me through,” Costner posted on his Instagram account on Oct. 11. “I hope that ‘Find Your Way’ provides that kind of refuge for anyone trudging through and losing sight of hope.”

HFI is a Christian organization that responds to disasters with training, support, and aid.

The “Yellowstone” star included a link on Bandcamp, where the public can donate what they can afford before downloading the song. The minimum amount is $1.25.

“I hope it means something to you guys and that you’ll consider purchasing it to benefit the victims of these terrible storms,” Costner said.

Hurricanes Helene and Milton both touched down in Florida. Helene also hit North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia, while Milton evaporated over the Atlantic Ocean. The death toll from Helene has reached more than 230, while Milton is at 23 people so far.

Modern West is a rock band founded by Costner in 2007. Band members include Teddy Morgan and Park Chisolm, who co-wrote the song with singer-songwriter Kat Higgins. Patrick Sansone played the Hammond organ on the song, which Costner said “added just the magic we needed to make this song feel like the prayer that it is.”

The lyrics that Costner sings include: “When the darkness overtakes you … And the stars above forsake you … And there’s no refuge for days and days … May you always find your way. When you hear that thunder roll in ... And the peace you held is stolen, and there’s no hope left in the prayers you pray ... May you always find your way.”

Other Modern West band members include John Coinman, Blair Forward, Larry Cobb, and Matt Combs.

Prior to “Find Your Way,” Costner and his band had not released any new music in more than four years.

Costner, 69, is also known for his award-winning movie roles in “The Untouchables,” “Bull Durham,” “Field of Dreams,” “Wyatt Earp,” “Man of Steel,” and “Dances with Wolves.”
Costner isn’t the only celebrity who is helping hurricane victims.
Feeding America’s CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot expressed her gratitude on Instagram to pop star Taylor Swift and Hollywood power couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for making a $5 million and $1 million donation, respectively.

“This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms,” Babineaux-Fontenot wrote.
NFL Quarterback Tom Brady posted on X that he contributed $100,000 to the Volunteer Florida Foundation.

“Keep those impacted by these storms in your prayers, look out for your neighbors, and continue to help out any way you’re able,” Brady posted. “Stay safe and stay strong, Florida.”

“Those with a following on social media should help if they have the means to do so,” celebrity brand, podcast, and social media consultant Gary Frayter told The Epoch Times.

“They have way more reach than the average person and can generate more money for causes like this.”

For example, Costner has 1.8 million Instagram followers, Swift has 284 million, Parton has 7 million, Lively has 46 million, and her husband has 54 million. Metallica has 12 million followers, and Brady has 3 million on X.

“I would love to see YouTubers, athletes, and politicians, do their part in posting on social to bring awareness to such causes,” Frayter said.

“Ultimately, this is America; we need to help each other, especially during times of crisis.”

Costner did not respond to requests for comment.
