Juice WRLD Vowed to Quit Drug Use Months Before Death: ‘Addiction Kills All’

Rapper Juice WLRD, who died after collapsing at a Chicago airport over the weekend, reportedly made a vow to quit using prescription drugs.

Five months before his death, in July, the 21-year-old suggested that he was abusing substances.

“Bae I’m sorry I be tweaking, you’ve put up with more than ppl know I know I be scaring you, [expletive] Codeine I’m done. I love you and im letting it be known publicly that ain’t [expletive] up the real love I found. Learn from this everyone. Addiction kills all but you can overcome,” he wrote in response to girlfriend Ally Lotti, reported Fox News.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the local Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office wrote that an autopsy was performed on the rapper and officials were not able to determine his cause of death.

“The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that additional studies are required to establish the cause and manner of death for 21-year-old Jarad A. Higgins,” the office said in a statement, using the rapper’s real name, as reported by E! News.

It added: “Additional studies include cardiac pathology, neuropathology, toxicology and histology.”

In the meantime, a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department told E! that Higgins “suffered what appears to be some type of medical emergency according to people traveling with him.”

“There were no signs of foul play and all individuals aboard the aircraft are cooperating with CPD and have given all of their information. Currently we are awaiting the Cook County medical examiner on the cause and manner of death,” said the police statement.

In 2018, his single “Lucid Dreams” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, noted the Chicago Sun-Times, which also reported that he is originally from Chicago.

The Sun-Times reported that Chicago-area detectives are investigating his death.

Juice WRLD also reportedly signed a deal with Interscope Records in March 2018 worth several million dollars.
