Actor and comedian Jamie Foxx is using his public platform to shed light on his health scare that left him hospitalized last year.

The 56-year-old recently took the stage after nearly two decades during his one-man show “One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx” in Atlanta to tell his story.

Foxx—who is also a musician—posted photos to his Instagram page on Oct. 13, expressing his gratitude for being able to perform and share “an artistic explanation of something that went terribly wrong.”
“God is good ... As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy ... on October 3 fourth and fifth I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story and there was no better place than Atlanta Georgia,” he wrote.

“I have to thank you Atlanta you showed up and you showed out, I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were,” he said.

In the photos, the “Django Unchained” star is seen standing on stage, filled with emotion in what he’s calling a “second chance” at life.

“Thanks to the great people in Atlanta especially piedmont hospital you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most ... #nobaddays as my guy James would say #secondchance,” he wrote.
In September, Foxx teased the event, inviting audiences to an evening filled with humor, heart, and inspiration as he planned to share his personal journey of recovery.

His performance was met with praise from friends and celebrities alike, commending Foxx for his progress and positive approach.

“The show you put on in Atlanta was one of the most amazing things I have witnessed in my 30 plus years in this business,” wrote music producer Breyon Prescott in the comments.

“May GOD continue to bless you my brother. You are truly the most gifted and talented person I know !!!  I can’t wait for the world to see this.”

Rapper Busta Rhymes echoed that sentiment, noting Foxx was “truly” missed, adding “Who God Bless, No man Curse!!”

The Oscar-winner was hospitalized in April 2023 for an undisclosed medical complication that began with a “bad headache.”

“I was gone for 20 days; I don’t remember anything,” he recently disclosed to fans outside of a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona.

While in the hospital, his family issued a statement via social media to confirm the medical complication.

“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday ... Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers ... The family asks for privacy during this time,” read the post.

Foxx took a brief hiatus as a result of his health scare but has since returned to work hosting the Fox competition show “Beat Shazam” alongside his daughter Corinne, whom he also walked down the aisle at her wedding last month.
