An incomplete “Star Wars” script left behind by Harrison Ford in the London flat he inhabited in 1976 will be auctioned off next month by the city’s Excalibur Auctions.
Ford, who played the character of Han Solo in the original “Star Wars” accidentally left behind the script’s fourth draft written by George Lucas, according to the auction house. It was written for the film originally titled “The Adventures of Luke Starkiller,” which later became “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope.”
The script is described as incomplete and unbound. It includes pages varying in color, which shows revisions were made to it. It also reportedly features scenes and characters, which wound up not making the film’s final cut.
The apartment owners where Mr. Ford stayed are auctioning the script. It was found years ago but owners only recently decided to auction it off, according to a press release. It’s anticipated to sell for between £8,000 and £12,000, equivalent to roughly $10,000 to $15,000.
Members of the couple who owned the apartment said that Mr. Ford occupied the upper two floors of the flat.
While at the time they did not realize that their new tenant was a movie star, they recalled how well they got on with him, even noting they drank together in the garden and how Mr. Ford attended their son’s first birthday party and even gave them money to buy plants.
They also recalled his “Star Wars” co-stars Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill visiting the property.
“He was an ideal tenant. It really was a fun time,” said the family in a statement released through the auction house. The script will be auctioned off with Excalibur Auctions on Feb. 17.
The couple also reportedly plans to sell other items from the apartment, which includes a handwritten note of the actor, filming schedules, a call sheet, and a letter from Ford’s manager Patricia McQueeney, in which she discussed future film prospects and contracts with the actor, according to the auction house.
