‘Godfather’ Actor Carmine Caridi Dies at Age 85, Say Reports

Carmine Caridi, an actor who appeared in the first sequel to “The Godfather,” died after falling into a coma, it was reported.

TMZ on May 29 reported that Caridi, who played Carmine Rosato in “The Godfather: Part II,” was hospitalized at the Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai hospital.

He later entered a comatose state and died on May 29, said Chazz Palminteri, the actor and director, in a statement to the entertainment website.

It’s not clear what his cause of death was or what induced the coma, according to the report. He never regained consciousness.

Caridi also appeared in a number of TV shows such as “Starsky and Hutch,” “Taxi,” “Fame,” and “Simon & Simon.”

He also appeared in popular TV show “NYPD Blue.” He has more than 100 acting credits over six decades.

Meanwhile, Caridi was expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for sharing movie screeners in 2004.

The FBI named him as a “person of interest” when looking into illegal copies of recently released films that were being made available online, according to FOX4.

The studios allegedly traced back the pirated copies of the movies to Caridi. He was apparently using the copies he had for Oscar screenings.

Other details about his death are not clear.

Celebrity comedian Freddie Starr died aged 76 at his home in Spain, according to reports.

The body of the British-born funnyman was reportedly discovered by a caregiver at his apartment in Mijas on the Costa del Sol on May 9, the Mirror reported.

Starr had been ill.

A neighbor, who asked not to be named, told the Mirror: “His carer found him dead in his chair at around 3:30 p.m. Police arrived first and then later an ambulance arrived and he was taken away.

“His next door neighbor, who is a nurse, said he was definitely dead. She said she thinks he may have suffered a heart attack.”

BBC Radio 6 music presenter Kelly Jobanputra, of Swindon in southwest England, died on April 26, according to the Swindon Advertiser. She was tragically struck and killed by a train, according to reports.

The celebrity radio host had just turned 40 in April, The Sun reported, and last year had given birth to her second child.

Fatima Ali

“Top Chef” alum Fatima Ali died on Jan. 25, after a battle with terminal cancer. She was 29.

Former “Top Chef” contestant Bruce Kalman paid tribute to her: “It’s with a heavy heart we say goodbye to Fatima Ali today, as she has lost her battle with cancer,” he wrote.
