Sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” star Frankie Muniz’s reunion with his onscreen parents, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, signaled that the Wilkerson brood is back in action ahead of the hit show’s reboot.

Muniz took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a photo of the trio, who are set to reprise their roles as Malcolm, Hal, and Lois Wilkerson.

“Always good to have Mom and Dad around!!” the actor and professional race car driver captioned the post.

Production for the coming miniseries kicked off in Vancouver earlier this month.

Disney+ ordered the limited, four-episode revival last December, announcing that the reboot would also feature the next generation of Wilkersons.

“The original ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ saw young genius Malcolm trying to navigate life with his quirky, often difficult family,” an official synopsis says. “In these brand-new episodes, Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”

In an Instagram clip posted on Dec. 13, 2024, Muniz said he had been “waiting for this moment” for almost two decades.

“OH MY GOSH! I’m so excited to announce that after 18 years, ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ is returning with new episodes on @disneyplus!” the actor wrote alongside the video. “Get ready, we can’t wait for everyone to see what Malcolm and his family have been up to!”

Created by film producer Linwood Boomer, “Malcolm in the Middle” chronicled the lives of Hal and Lois Wilkerson’s dysfunctional family, which included their four other sons, Francis, Reese, Dewey, and Jamie.

The seminal comedy series premiered on Fox in January 2000 and aired for seven seasons until its conclusion in May 2006. During its run, the show garnered multiple awards, including seven Primetime Emmys.

“‘Malcolm in the Middle’ is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart, and relatability,” Ayo Davis, the president of Disney Branded Television, said in a statement at the time, according to People.

“Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we’re so excited to welcome the original cast back to bring that magic to life again.

“With Linwood Boomer and the creative team at the helm, these new episodes will have all the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved.”

A premiere date for the reboot has not yet been announced.
