As a father of four, life can get pretty chaotic for “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds, but despite the challenges, the actor says he is savoring every moment.
The couple share daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, along with their 1-year-old son Olin and have learned that the best parenting advice is to “embrace the chaos.”
“Having kids is kind of awesome. … Right now, I think it’s just embrace this, like, the chaos,” he said. “We have four kids. ... Nothing’s gonna be, like, tidy ever again.”
He suggested the house will be clean again once the children have grown and left home.
Both Reynolds and Lively are on press tours for their respective new movies, “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “It Ends With Us.”
While they’re no strangers to busy Hollywood schedules, the actor is reminded by his wife that the life they’re currently living won’t last forever.
“My wife always says, ‘They’re all under our roof right now. Like, the whole family’s under our roof right now. We have them all.’ And that is a fleeting thing ... not an infinite resource,” said Reynolds.
The couple tied the knot in 2012 and throughout the years have learned that parenting comes with trials and tribulations. The actor said there are days when it can be overwhelming.
Through the challenges and some sleepless nights, Reynolds said it’s all worth it, adding that he considers being a dad his greatest “superpower.”
“Think about what you would give in 40 years or 30 years to come back and enjoy this one moment,” he said.
In her husband’s latest superhero film, Lively makes a masked appearance as Lady Deadpool, while two of their children, Inez and Olin, also make cameos.
“As many as possible. As many little heartbeats as possible, just running around, wrecking stuff in the house. I love it. Let’s have more!” he said.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” is currently in theaters everywhere, while Lively’s film “It Ends With Us,” based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, is set to hit the big screen on Aug. 9.
